Rome, ITALY

We docked in Civitavecchia, walked to the train station, and hopped on the train into Rome. We did a LOT of walking from place to place here. We did get on a tour bus again to see the sites around the city for a little bit though. We got to stop at the Coliseum, the Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel. We had to basically run through the Sistine Chapel though because we had only a short amount of time before our train left to go back to the ship. I had NO idea how far you had to go just to get to the Chapel. We walked from room to room, around buildings, through halls, and up stairs, to FINALLY get to the Chapel where Michelangelo painted. It took us about an hour of walking fast through all the exhibits to get to the chapel. One tour guide said that if you took time to stop at every exhibit and read about it, it would take you 9 WEEKS to get through the Sistine Chapel! Insane, huh? It was sooo cool though to be in the Sistine chapel where Michelangelo painted that amazing room! No pictures are allowed and everyone is asked to be quiet while in there. I was totally in awe at how real things looked and all the detail he put into his work. Truly a site to be remembered. After we got out of the chapel, we had to find everyone in our group, hurry and grab a couple taxis to take us back to the train station and run down the ENTIRE length of the terminal down to like station 39 or something insane to get to our train. Luckily, the train was running late, so we made it with time to spare. Alex and I had his mom with us in our cab, and her little scooter was in the cab with everyone else, so when we got out I had to practically carry/drag her as we ran down to the train. It was crazy!!!
